1. Ssssssss
Inhale deeply and let your breath out steadily making the sound 'sssss'. When all your air is spent, inhale quickly using the reflex action that comes naturally, and begin again. Competition: the person with the longest exhale wins! 2. Flapping lips/rolling tongue Rapidly flap your lips/roll your tongue while vocalising up and down in pitch 3. Seagulls Make a fluid but soft 'ah' sound like a seagull. Go from head voice to falsetto as smoothly as possible. 4. Your heart's garden Lie, sit or stand with your legs shoulder width apart with your arms gently resting by your sides. Close your eyes. Breathe gently, directing your breath into your abdomen. Imagine that you are looking down at yourself. See that you are calm and relaxed. Now allow your focus to float down 'into yourself' and rest your attention on your heart centre. See that you are in a beautiful garden, perhaps a Bible Garden. There you meet Jesus, Mary, your guardian angel or your patron Saint, or someone special to you. Remain there for a little while. |
1. SHEEBA!
Participants stand in a circle facing inwards. The first person 'passes' the sound "zip!" to the person on his/her right with a sweeping gesture with both hands. The action and sound continues to be passed around the circle. Any person may decide to pass the sound and gesture in the opposite direction. Add other sounds and gestures to the game as each one is performed with ease. "diddly-dee" = the sound is passed to the next but one person to the left or right with a high action with both hands reaching over the head of the person to be missed! "sheeba" = the sound is zoomed across the circle with a forward action of the arms and body. "boing!" - the person receiving the 'zoom' can, if they do not want to take the zoom, put up a shield with the arms in front of the body. The person sending the 'zoom' then has to quickly think about what action and sound to do next. 2. Strange object Everyone stands in a circle and Person A picks up an object (preferably a small cardboard box). Person A says with a lisp: 'this...is a/an/the X (any proper noun). It is the most important X in the world!' The group responds with a similar lisp: 'yes, YES!' Person A then tosses the object in the air and it is the group's join effort to stop it from falling into the ground by hitting it upwards one at a time (like a volleyball). The group counts each strike until the object inevitably falls. Whoever touches the object last becomes Person B. Repeat this procedure several times. |
